In order to screen for gestational diabetes (diabetes
in pregnancy) between 24-28. weeks, 50 gr glucose screening test is performed. The
test can be applied open or full. The test should be performed earlier in the
early examination in the presence of risk factors such as excessive obesity,
large baby history, first-degree relatives, or a history of gestational
diabetes (diabetes in pregnancy) during previous pregnancies. In pregnant women
with these risk factors, even if the test results are normal 24-28. It should
be repeated in weeks.
If the 5O g glucose screening test result is higher than 130
or 140, 100 g of oral glucose test is performed for 3 hours. For OGTT, the
pregnant is taken to a nutrition program containing 300 grams of carbohydrates
for three days. The person should continue their normal daily activities during
this period. After the 12-day fast after the evening of the third day, 100gr
glucose is drunk in 5 minutes after the blood is taken for 0 minutes in the
morning. Then a blood sample is taken for glucose in the first, second and
third hours.
Fasting> 95 mg / dl
> 180mg / dl in 1st hour
2nd hour> 155 mg / dl
In the 3rd hour> 140 mg / dl
If 2 or more of the 4 values here are abnormal, gestational
diabetes (diabetes in pregnancy) is diagnosed. If the single value is high, it
is recommended to repeat the test one month later. In cases where the 50 gram
glucose screening test result is higher than 190 mg / dl, it will be sufficient
to look at the fasting glucose level without the need for 100gr OGTT. If
fasting blood glucose is detected above 95mg / dl, treatment is started by
evaluating pregnant gestational diabetes.
