INTEGRATED TEST

Integrated screening test during pregnancy is performed by performing two tests sequentially.
1) PAPP-A measurement and nuchal thickness (NT) of the baby are measured between 11-14 weeks. According to these measurements, a risk is not determined, only the test to be performed later is expected.
2) Quadruple blood screening test is performed between 16-20 weeks and the risk result is determined by integrating with the measurements specified in the first item.
If the result is determined by measuring NT in the test as described above, this is called a fully integrated test. If only PAPP-A and quad test measurements are tested without NT measurement with ultrasound, this is called serum integrated test.
Integrated test during pregnancy Detecting pregnancies with Down syndrome is the highest, most reliable test. 92% of babies with Down syndrome can be determined by a fully integrated test. In serum integrated testing, this rate is 89%.
According to the integrated test result, the risk of Down syndrome (trisomy 21) and Edwards syndrome (trisomy 18) in the baby is determined. If the result is high risk, there is a risk of disease in the baby, but the baby may be completely normal, so amniocentesis should be performed for a definitive result. With this test, the risk of neural tube defects can be determined in the baby since AFP measurement is performed.
Sequential Screening Test: NT and PAPP-A or NT, PAPP-A and B-HCG are examined between 11-14 weeks. As a result, amniocentesis is recommended for those at risk of Down syndrome. The risk of Down syndrome is determined by the integrated test result as above by doing a quad test between 16-20 weeks.
Contingent screening test: Unlike the cascading screening test, there is no further test on patients with low risk. Amniocentesis is recommended to the group with high risk as in the step screening test. Quadruple blood screening test is performed for pregnant women who have moderate risk after 16-20 weeks.
