DOES THE AGE OF THE FATHER BRINGS SOME RISKS WITH ADVANCING AGES?

The issue of pregnancy and infertility is mainly closely related to the age of the mother. As the maternal age advances, especially after 35 years of age, there is an increased risk of not being able to conceive, that is, infertility, and after pregnancy, some risks related to mother and baby increase during pregnancy.
Does the risk of infertility increase as the age of the man (candidate father) grows?
Even though the age of the father is not as much as the mother, it brings some risks with advancing ages in some subjects. As the age of the man progresses, especially after the age of 40-45, sperm movement, volume and number of normal shaped sperm (morphology) decrease. However, sperm concentration does not change with age. Although the age of the man is not as effective as that of the woman due to the deterioration in the sperm parameters, it decreases the success in the occurrence of pregnancy. It takes longer to get a pregnancy and the pregnancy rate decreases.
Risks related to pregnancy, diseases that may occur in the baby:
With the onset of menopause between the ages of 46-50 in women, egg cell production stops, males continue to produce sperm at any age, but in older ages, sperm quality decreases. In older men, the risk of genetic error, ie mutation, increases during sperm production. These mutations not only cause a slight increase in the risk of miscarriage, but also tend to develop some diseases in the baby. Especially the risk of autosomal dominant diseases occurring in the baby increases because these diseases can occur as a result of an error in only one of the gene pairs, and genetic error that may occur in the sperm of the man can cause these diseases to occur. Some of the autosomal dominant diseases: Achondroplasia, neurofibromatosis, Marfan syndrome, osteogenesis imperfecta ...
There are studies reporting that some diseases such as autism, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, concentration disorder, low reasoning ability, and cognitive dysfunction have increased with the age of the male.
Abortion risk:
Studies have shown that the advanced age of men causes a serious risk increase in terms of miscarriage regardless of the age of the woman. As the maternal age advances, the risk of pregnancy abortion increases.
The relationship between Down syndrome and advanced father age:
The risk of having down syndrome in the baby increases with increasing maternal age, there is a serious proportion. In addition to some studies showing that the age of the father does not affect the risk of down syndrome, some important studies have stated that if the age of the mother is older than 35, the age of the father also increases the risk more.
