Dizziness during pregnancy (vertigo) and a feeling of
fainting are common complaints. Rarely fainting may occur.
Due to excessive growth of the uterus during pregnancy, the
amount of blood that goes to the uterus increases, and therefore a difficulty
may occur in pumping blood to other organs such as the brain, which may cause
dizziness or fainting. In addition, pressure of the growing uterus on the
mother's blood vessels may cause dark eyes, dizziness and fainting. Dizziness
may occur while standing up while lying down or sitting. This is called
situational low blood pressure (postural hypotension). As a result of the rapid
decrease in blood pressure, less blood flows to the brain suddenly causes this
situation. To prevent this situation, you should stand up very slowly and
carefully.
When your blood sugar drops, dizziness, dark eyes, and a
feeling of fainting may occur. You can prevent this situation by eating
frequently, and gradually, snacking between meals. You should not be dehydrated
for a long time. If you have a condition like gestational diabetes, you should
definitely contact your doctor to adjust your sugar levels or insulin dose.
Apart from this, anemia, lying on your back, keeping the
vaccine dehydrated, being in a hot environment, standing for a long time,
exercising too much can also cause dizziness, darkening of the eyes, weakness
and fainting, you should avoid such situations.
If you feel dizzy, lightheaded, blackout, malaise, fainting,
immediately lie somewhere and keep it high by putting a pillow-like object
under your legs to increase blood circulation to your brain. Meanwhile, your
head should be straight on the floor. Lying towards your left side also reduces
the pressure of the uterus on the vessels and relaxes you. Lying on your back
or to the right may increase the pressure the uterus exerts.
If you experience frequent and uncomfortable dizziness, dark
eyes, and feeling faint, you should definitely consult your doctor. If there is
a complete fainting condition, you should immediately contact your doctor.
Severe dizziness (vertigo) and frequent fainting may be a symptom of anemia or
inner ear diseases or some neurological diseases.
