Hydrocele is the accumulation of fluid around the testicles
of the baby. Sometimes it can be unilateral, sometimes bilateral. Diagnosis can
be made with ultrasound during pregnancy examination. Approximately 15% is
encountered in the last months of pregnancy. Most of this is one-sided, about a
third of it is two-sided. It is noticed by the swelling of the baby's testicles
at birth.
It usually returns spontaneously normally after birth.
Surgical intervention is required if months after birth do not return normally,
but after months. It is usually expected for 1 year. Sometimes an inguinal
hernia accompanying the hydrocele can also be found, in this case surgery is
performed with hernia surgery.
