Varicose veins close to the skin are formed due to the
expansion in the veins. Varicose veins formation may be racial, that is,
familial. The enlargement of these vessels is bothersome in appearance and
creates complaints such as pain in some people. The expanding varicose veins
usually appear purple. In pregnancy, varicose veins are most often formed on
the legs. It may occur less frequently in the vulva (outside the vagina).
Hemorrhoids are also a kind of varicose and increase during pregnancy.
Pregnancy is one of the conditions that predispose to the formation of varicose
veins. The reasons for the predisposition to varicose veins during pregnancy
are the increase in blood volume during pregnancy, the increased progesterone hormone
during pregnancy, loosening the muscles in the vessels and the growing uterus
pressing on the vessels. Varicose veins are more common in women than in men.
The rate of infancy in women increases 2-3 times more. It is observed that
about 15% of pregnant women have varicose veins.
Leg varicose veins are not an obstacle for normal delivery.
If there are very wide varicose veins in the vulva, that is, the outer part of
the vagina, care should be taken not to bleed during delivery and not to cut
them during episiotomy (birth stitch).
To prevent
varicose veins during pregnancy:
- Avoid staying too long
- Avoid gaining excess weight
- Walking, exercising, doing sports
- Do not wear tight pants, tight shoes, wear comfortable
- Avoid movements that prevent blood flow, such as your legs
getting stuck in parts such as the edge of the chair while sitting.
- Lie down whenever possible and put pillows, etc. to raise
them under your feet. sheep
- Crossing legs while sitting can also facilitate varicose
veins by preventing blood flow.
- Do not wear high heels
- Eat a balanced diet, eat lots of vegetables, fruits and
water
- Do not smoke
- Do not sit for a long time, move up once in a while
Treatment:
Surgery, varicose stockings and some medications are used for
the treatment of varicose veins. In mild varicose veins during pregnancy,
treatment may not be necessary. Preventive methods are sufficient, but varicose
stockings are given in severe varicose veins. Some leg exercises can be done to
prevent varicose veins. Surgery and sclerotherapy, laser methods are generally
not applied during pregnancy. The stockings of varicose veins tighten the
veins, reducing enlargement and preventing blood from being deposited in the
vein. After birth, a great improvement is observed in the varicose veins.
