SLEEPLESSNES IN PREGNANCY

In the first months of pregnancy, there is often a tendency to sleep and the expectant mother does not have sleep problems. But in the coming months and especially in the last months, there are problems of not being able to sleep comfortably and adequately for various reasons.
Reasons:
- frequent urination at night
- Not being able to lie in a comfortable position on the bed due to excessive tummy growth
- Cramping in the legs at night
- Pain in the back and legs in the legs
- Shortness of breath
- Hot water coming into the mouth when lying down

The expectant mother may have difficulties due to the change of her body shape in the position she is accustomed to sleep before pregnancy. It is not recommended to lie on your back during pregnancy, it is recommended to lie on the left side of the mother. Due to the excessive growth of the abdomen in recent months, the mother may have difficulty in these positions, but for the health of the baby, it is appropriate to lie on the left side. Turning to the left side, the pressure on the vessels decreases and more blood flows to the baby. You will be more comfortable if you bend your legs while lying on the left side and put a pillow between them. Side lying position will also reduce shortness of breath. Special "pregnancy pillows" are produced in the side position to make the mother comfortable. In the first months of pregnancy, it can be lying in any position, including the back, and there is no harm.
While sleeping, it is necessary to avoid lying on your back and on the abdomen. The supine position causes problems with shortness of breath, hemorrhoids, water in the mouth, and reduces blood flow to the baby. The position of lying on the abdomen can be harmful as it will put pressure on the abdomen and will cause discomfort due to the enlargement of the abdomen.
What can be done to reduce sleep problems during pregnancy, except the right sleeping position? Taking a hot shower before going to sleep in the evening can help bring your sleep. You should avoid drinking too much tea or coffee in the evening. It may be helpful to drink warm milk before bedtime. Take care to go to bed at the same time every day and get up at the same time in the morning. Exercise or walking during the day is also beneficial for sleep.
