WHAT SHOULD BE DONE TO HAVE TWIN PREGNANCY?

How about the twin baby? What can we do to have twin babies? How can we increase this chance? Sometimes questions come from couples planning pregnancy. Some couples want to have twin babies and look for methods to increase this chance. There is no natural method to increase the chances of having a twin or triplet pregnancy. It has nothing to do with any food or drink. If only the mother's family has twin pregnancies, the chances of having twin pregnancies are higher (Fraternal twin is familially affected). In addition, the probability of having twin pregnancies increases with increasing maternal age. In addition, those who are treated for infertility with IVF and medication are slightly more likely to have twins and triplets.
The frequency of twin pregnancy varies between societies and races, but it is seen once every 80-100 pregnancies. For example, it is less common in Japanese and the rate is high in Nigeria.
Who is more likely to have twin-triple pregnancy?
- It is more common in some races (about 5% in Nigeria)
- In pregnancies occurring in advanced ages (peaking at 37 years of age): It is more difficult to conceive at these ages compared to young ages, but when conceiving, the rate of majority pregnancy is high.
- If the mother has a family history of twin pregnancies, the chance increases (valid for dizygotic twins)
- Having a twin in the father's family does not affect.
- Multiparite
- In countries exposed to daylight, in summer
- In tall and overweight women
- Clomiphene citrate (about 10%) or in those who become pregnant with gonadotropin treatment (20-30%)
- The chance of forming a monozygotic twins is not affected by any factor, it is constant in a certain proportion (1/250) all over the world, its rate is increased only in IVF applications.
