PIECES THAT ARE LEFT IN THE WOMB DURING ABORTION

It is the situation that some of the pregnancy material remains in the uterus after an abortion. After the abortion procedure, rarely the gestational sac, placenta or usually a small part of them can remain in the uterus.
Symptoms in case of parts remaining:
Bleeding gradually decreases and ceases within a few days after termination of pregnancy, that is, abortion, and there is a small amount of bleeding for up to 1 week. However, in case of rest, the bleeding does not decrease or sometimes increase even more in the days after the abortion. The patient may notice piecemeal clots falling or excessive bleeding. Sometimes the patient can drop a small or large piece. Although the pain normally passes after 1-2 days after an abortion, it may take longer if there are parts left and there may be menstrual-like pain in the form of cramps. Pain or excessive bleeding is not necessary. Sometimes, even though parts remain, they do not, and are detected only by chance in the control.
Patients are usually invited for a control examination 1 week after an abortion, in case there is any remaining part of the abortion, infection or other complications. If there is a piece remaining, it is determined on the ultrasound and again with a small intervention (usually vacuum abortion), the remaining piece is removed. In some cases, drug therapy may also be given. The removal of the remaining part is shorter and simpler than the abortion process. Usually, the patient is anesthetized, etc. not necessary. As long as the part remains noticeable and cleaned, it does not constitute any drawbacks in matters such as gynecology, menstrual order or getting pregnant.
