RISKY PREGNANCY

Some situations related to mother or baby may require a pregnancy to be included in the category of risky pregnancy (high risk pregnancy). There may be some diseases that exist before the pregnancy, as well as some diseases that occur after the pregnancy begins. Pregnancies defined as risky pregnancy require closer and careful strict follow-up. These pregnancies should be followed and evaluated by risky pregnancy specialists (perinatologist) whenever possible.
Conditions related to the mother causing risky pregnancy:
- The mother smokes (regardless of quantity)
- High blood pressure (preeclampsia, pregnancy poisoning) occurs in the mother before or during pregnancy
- Diabetes development in the mother before or during pregnancy
- Mothers have diseases such as liver, kidney, goiter, rheumatic diseases, epilepsy, psychiatric diseases
- AIDS in the mother
- Mother's age under 18 or over 35
- The mother had previously had 3 or more miscarriages
- The mother's previous experience of intrauterine ex fetus (infant death in her abdomen)
- The mother is too weak or too fat
Conditions related to the baby causing risky pregnancy:
- Intrauterine development retardation in the baby (IUGR), the baby's weight is below normal standards
Twin, triplet and other multiple pregnancies
Fetal anomaly (various disabilities and injuries in the baby)

- The baby's amniotic water is more or less than normal

What measures can be taken?
The development of high-risk pregnancy is not always in the hands of couples, it is often unpredictable and precautionary situations such as those mentioned above. However, avoiding cigarettes and alcohol, taking care of regular exercise and proper nutrition, trying to maintain normal weight limits, not using any medication without consulting a doctor, and taking care of regular doctor follow-ups from pre-pregnancy to delivery are some measures that can be taken.
