PREPARATIONS AND THINGS TO DO BEFORE CESAREAN

There are some preparations that must be done at the patient's home in the days before the cesarean surgery and applied in the hospital on the day of hospitalization. Although most of these are similar to preparations in other surgeries, there are also some differences due to the birth in cesarean section. The preparations mentioned below are valid for the cesareans that have been determined before. In some cases, as a cesarean decision can be made urgently, in those cases it is necessary to undergo surgery without these preparations.
Preparations to be made at home before going to the hospital:
- It is generally recommended to take a shower the day before the operation. The purpose of this is that the operation area is cleaner and the risk of infection decreases.
- It is recommended not to shave or wax the abdomen and pubic (genital) area one week before cesarean surgery. It increases the risk of wound infection in shaving or waxing. On the day of the surgery, if necessary, hairs on the operating area are shaved by the staff.
- Patients using diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, goiter, asthma and patients who take medication must take their medication with them when they go to the hospital.
- When going to the hospital, take your birthday bag and other materials necessary for the baby.
- When you go to the hospital for a cesarean section, you should definitely bring the file containing your pregnancy-related follow-up papers and analyzes with you.

How many hours before caesarean should eat?
- The patient has to enter the surgery with an 8-hour fast. In other words, no food, drink or water should be taken 8 hours before the operation. If the surgery is to be done in the afternoon, you can consult your doctor and get a small amount of food early in the morning.
Preparations at the hospital:
- A letter informing the patient and his wife about the operation and other procedures to be performed immediately after hospitalization is given, the patient is informed about the procedure, possible side effects and risks, and his signed approval is obtained. Before signing the article, the patient can ask the doctor and learn everything he / she does not understand about the operations and operations.
