Sisterna magna is a fluid-filled formation between the
cerebellum and the medulla oblangata located in the back of the brain. In the
ultrasound evaluation, measuring the width of this region wider than 10 mm is
called mega sisterna magna.
It can be alone or accompany with other accompanying
anomalies. Chromosomal anomaly may accompany. Mega sisterna magna alone does
not usually cause problems and has no clinical significance. It is a common
condition (1%). Their size should be followed during pregnancy. However, if
there are other accompanying anomalies and chromosomal anomaly, the prognosis
may be poor.
