In the presence of blood in the urine, the color of the urine
can be noticeable to the eye as red or pink, but sometimes it is noticeable
that there is only blood in the microscopic examination (or in the urinalysis)
although the color appears normal in the presence of very little blood. The
presence of blood in the urine, that is, the mixing of red blood cells
(erythrocytes) into the urine, is called hematuria. Pregnant women or
non-pregnant people should never have a blood cell in the urine. Similar
reasons apply to pregnancy. Conditions such as an infection, kidney or urinary
bladder, trauma, etc. may cause blood to appear. When a pregnant woman notices
pink and red in urine color, she should definitely consult a doctor. Some
medicines are known to change the color of urine and feces, so you should
consult your doctor, considering that they may be caused by the medications you
use.
In the presence of hematuria, the patient may sometimes have
complaints such as groin pain, flank pain, pain, nausea, vomiting, weakness. In
some cases, he has no complaints, except blood.
Treatment is planned according to the cause of hematuria. If
the reason is infection, antibiotic treatment is given for this. The patient is
recommended to drink plenty of water. If the kidney has stones or any other
cause, medication or surgical treatment is planned for them. In these cases,
urology specialists need a consultation.
