NOSE BLEEDING IN PREGNANCY

An increase in nasal bleeding occurs due to edema in the nose and an increase in blood volume during pregnancy. In some pregnant women, it can be repeated every two months during pregnancy, while in some pregnant women it can be serious enough to repeat continuously. Especially such frequent recurrent bleeding may play a role in addition to pregnancy. Therefore, it is absolutely necessary to be examined by consulting an otolaryngologist. Depending on the cause of the bleeding, medication or cauterization can be done. In case of bleeding, the bleeding can be stopped by pressing the nose wings for 5-10 minutes in a sitting position.
Nose bleeding is more common in pregnant women who smoke and are not fed well and have dry nose. For this reason, non-smoking, avoiding polluted air, drinking plenty of water and consuming fruits and vegetables rich in vitamins reduce nosebleeds. Paper tissues should be used to clean the nose, and cleaning with water and severe sweeping should be avoided. Moisturizing the air of the living room and bedroom prevents dry nose and bleeding.
