RISKS OF ABORTION

As with every intervention, there are several risks for each procedure, and abortion has some risks. These are very rare risks due to the use of modern tools today.
Risks and possible harms of the abortion procedure:
- Bleeding: Bleeding may be minor during and after abortion. Unless the gestational week is more than 10 weeks, there is no risk of excessive bleeding.
- Infection: Since the abortion procedure is intervened in the uterus, all the instruments used must be sterile and the vagina and cervix must be cleaned with antiseptic solution before the procedure. Despite this, infection (endometritis) may develop in the uterus very rarely after the procedure. Antibiotic therapy is required.
- Perforation of the uterus (Uterus perforation): It is a rare complication, but it occurs more frequently in abortions in advanced gestational weeks. In this case, it is necessary to make observations, sometimes it may heal without the need for a spontaneous intervention, or sometimes it may be necessary to repair the area pierced by the surgery.
- Adhesion in the uterus (Asherman's syndrome): Very rarely, adhesions may occur due to the abnormal and overreactive response of tissue in the uterus or excessive cleaning of the uterus. It is one of the rarest complications after abortion.
- If general anesthesia will be applied, there is a risk of developing various complications related to it.
- Due to local anesthesia, rarely called vasovagal syncope may develop and improve in a short time.
- After abortion, it does not cause pregnancy again, that is, infertility. Lack of repeat pregnancy may be due to another reason.
- After abortion, there may rarely be any parts in the uterus or accumulation of blood. In this case, the inside of the uterus is cleaned again with a small intervention.
Rarely there is a risk that pregnancy cannot be taken. In this case, pregnancy is taken by trying again after 1 week. Especially very small pregnancies may not be taken the first time, so it may be necessary to have an abortion by waiting for it to grow a little.
- Rarely there may be menstrual irregularities after abortion, this is temporary. In abortion procedure, your menstruation will somehow be the same in 1-2 months after the procedure. The first menstruation usually occurs 30-40 days after the abortion.
