Spots formed by thin veins on the face during pregnancy are
called spider nevus (spider nevi). The reason it is called a spider is that it
has an image lying on the radial surface like a spider. Although it is mostly
seen in the areas near the eyes, it can also be seen on the chest and arms. It
usually starts after the third month of pregnancy and continues until birth.
Although it usually passes spontaneously after birth, it can
rarely be permanent. If it is permanent, it is possible to be healed by a
dermatologist, such as laser or cautery.
It is also a finding in liver patients other than pregnancy.
