The Lamaze method aims to ensure that normal birth takes
place naturally, healthily, without fear and happily. It got its name from the
doctor who developed the technique, Fernand Lamaze. Fernand Lamaze first
demonstrated this technique in France in 1951. He created the Lamaze technique
by developing the techniques he observed in Russia. Lamaze method includes
techniques such as informing, educating the mother before birth, giving moral
support to the mother during birth, breathing exercises and relaxation and
relaxation.
6 important criteria that Lamaze determined to support and
encourage normal birth:
These criteria were obtained by developing the criteria
determined by the World Health Organization (WHO). The benefits of all these
criteria have been proven by research.
1- Birth should start spontaneously.
2 - From birth, the mother should have complete freedom of
movement.
3- During the birth, the mother should be given moral and
physical support.
4- Routine (applied to every pregnant woman) applications
should be avoided.
5- During the birth, the mother should be strained naturally
in standing and natural positions.
6- Immediately after birth, mother and baby skin should come
together and they should not be separated unless it is mandatory, breastfeeding
should be provided at every opportunity.
Pregnancy
and normal birth according to the Lamaze philosophy:
- Pregnancy is a normal and natural phenomenon that occurs in
women's life.
- The mother's body is designed to be perfect for carrying,
feeding and growing the baby during pregnancy.
- The progression of pregnancy months is necessary for the
baby to grow and for the preparation of the mother's body for birth.
- Pregnancy is an opportunity for parents to strengthen their
lifetime bonds.
- A healthy and stress-free lifestyle is required for a
healthy pregnancy, a healthy birth and a healthy baby.
- Place and conditions of birth may increase or decrease the
trust of the mother that pregnancy and birth is a natural process.
- Lamaze education enables the mother to trust her own body,
listen to her inner mind and make informed decisions about pregnancy,
childbirth, breastfeeding and baby care.
- Every mother has the right to give birth to her baby
naturally without medical intervention.
- Delivery can be done safely at home or in hospitals.
Lamaze
philosophy about being a good parent:
- Being a good parent is essential for both the child and the
mother and me and public health.
- Being a parent is a fun and important task that requires
responsibility and provides intense satisfaction.
- The role of parents in the lives of their children are
unique and irreplaceable roles.
- Being a parent is an art that we learn from our parents,
our children and our children.
- To be a good parent, the support of the family and friends,
the environment is also required.
- Knowledge and support enable parents to make informed
decisions about themselves and their children and to feel confident.
Lamaze ensures that the mother is informed during pregnancy
and becomes a conscious and confident person at the time of birth, so that she
is an active actor. A birth spent with fear and without understanding what is
happening, without realizing the meaning and happiness of these moments will
not only leave a good moment for the mother, but will also affect the birth,
the baby's health and the mother-baby relationship. Whereas, a deliberate and
self-confident birth without mother, by fear, with happiness and willingly, by
actively participating, will give her life-long emotions that she will never
forget and will leave memories that she will never forget for life.
The aim of Lamaze is to give birth completely naturally and
safely and happily. Actually, birth, which is a completely natural event, has
become an "artificial", fearful and anxious event, which is full of
interventions, but not always, for various reasons.
It is a proven fact that those who give birth with the Lamaze
method encounter more painless, happier and less problems. In the Lamaze
method, it is possible to feel pain at various levels as well as those who do
not feel any pain at all. However, even if pain is felt, the expectant mother
feels painful, conscious and full of confidence, away from fear, panic and
anxiety and knows very well what she is in. These methods were found to be less
necessary for cesarean and other medical interventions in those giving birth.
During the Lamaze trainings, not only mothers but also
fathers are trained. If the father candidates want, they will be with the
mother at the time of pain, and learn how useful they can be for the mother at
this moment.
