CHANGES IN BREAST IN PREGNANCY

From the beginning of pregnancy, the expectant mother feels and sees some changes in her breasts. Some of these changes are a natural process for preparing the mother's breast for breastfeeding. Breast volume increases due to the growth of milk ducts, breasts grow and sensitivity develops. Heaviness may be felt in the breasts. Difference may occur between the right and left breast sizes. The veins may become visible under the breast skin.
The nipples also grow and become sensitive, darker and darker throughout the pregnancy, and acquire a dark brown color. Nothing is applied to remove or reduce this darkening, the color will return to normal when the hormones return to normal when pregnancy ends.
A small amount of milk may come from the nipples during pregnancy. This starting milk called colostrum is clear or yellowish. If bloody fluid comes from the nipples, you should immediately contact your doctor. Small protrusions form on the nipples (Montgomery tubercles), these protrusions secrete oil to help maintain nipple health. You should only rinse with water without cleaning this area with soap.
Drying and pain may occur in the nipples. In this case, it can be cleaned with warm water and suitable moisturizing creams can be applied.
Is breast growth or nipple color related to gender?
There are false beliefs among the public in some regions. Images such as the breasts getting more or less enlarged, the nipples darkening more or less, and darkening are not related to the sex of the baby, whether it is a boy or a girl. Changes in breasts or abdomen, throughout the body, are similar in male or female sex. It is impossible to predict the gender of the baby by looking at the external image changes in the mother's body.
When does growth, pain, and darkening begin in the breasts:
During pregnancy, breast growth, swelling, sensitization, pain, and pain usually begin from the first months. The nipple darkening generally occurs in the later months, in some it starts around the 3rd month and in others it starts towards the last months. Growing breasts or changing nipple colors is not an indication of the course of pregnancy or the health of the baby.
There is a mass in the breast and blood coming from the nipple:
These are not normal changes during pregnancy. Conditions such as stiffness of the breast in hand or mass in the armpit while pregnant, red-brown discharge from the nipple, blood in the urgent condition require urgent medical examination.
