When measles is passed on as a child, they become immune for
life and children are routinely vaccinated. Therefore, it is very rarely
encountered in adults and pregnant women.
The measles virus does not cause an anomaly in the baby during
pregnancy, but the risk of miscarriage and premature birth is increased.
Women without immunity before pregnancy should be vaccinated
and should not become pregnant within 3 months after vaccination. The measles
vaccine cannot be vaccinated during pregnancy because it is a live vaccine.
Immunoglobulin should be given to the pregnant woman in case
of non-immunity contact with the person who had measles during pregnancy. There
is a risk of serious infection in the baby after birth, especially if the mother
has measles recently.
Having a measles does not prevent the mother from
breastfeeding.
