CAN PROZAC (FLUOXETINE) BE USED IN PREGNANCY?

Drugs containing Fluoxetine (Prozac etc.) are drugs in category C. Although this category is not a controlled experiment in humans, they can be used in compulsory situations considering the benefit-loss ratio.
In the first 3 months of pregnancy, most of the studies did not show teratogen in patients who used Procaz (fluoxetine). However, few studies have reported increased heart anomalies.
In breastfeeding mothers, since Prozac can pass into breast milk by 15%, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea etc. there may be problems. There is insufficient scientific data on the use of Prozac in nursing mothers.
Pregnant women and nursing mothers should never use them without consulting a doctor.
