As the name suggests, normal delivery is normal delivery
(alias vaginal delivery). For this reason, of course, there are some advantages
in terms of births with cesarean surgery, and benefits for mother and baby.
The
benefits of normal birth to the baby:
- Babies born with normal birth are less likely to develop
respiratory distress. The reason for this is thought to be the discharge of
amniotic water in the lungs due to the pressure that the baby experiences while
passing through the birth canal.
- It is believed that the bacteria that the baby comes into
contact with during the normal delivery, passing through the birth canal, play
a beneficial role in the development of the immune system.
- Hormonal fluctuations in the baby during the progression of
normal delivery are thought to be beneficial for the baby to disconnect with
the mother after birth. The endorphin hormone (happiness hormone) secreted in
the baby during normal delivery was detected in the baby's cord blood. These
hormones prepare the baby for the outside environment.
- It was observed that babies born with normal birth have
better skills such as sucking the breast, massaging the breast.
- After normal delivery, skin contact between mother and baby
occurs faster and easier. This contact is very important for the attachment and
development of the baby to the mother.
- Babies born with normal birth are taken less in intensive
care than those born by cesarean section. (It can usually be caused by risky
deliveries by cesarean.)
The
benefits of normal birth to the mother:
- The recovery period of the mother after normal delivery and
return to daily life is very short.
- Mothers who give birth normally are discharged from the
hospital in a shorter time. This benefits the mother in both health and
financial terms.
- A mother who gives birth normally feels great trust and a
sense of accomplishment.
- "Maternal mortality rate during delivery" is
lower in normal delivery than cesarean.
- Since the mother who gives birth does not have an incision
or damage in her womb, there is a chance that she will give birth in the normal
way. It does not pose a risk for abdominal surgeries that she may have in her
future life.
- Complications such as infection and bleeding after delivery
are less in normal delivery.
- The mother who has a normal vaginal delivery has a very low
pain complaint compared to cesarean section.
