Normal births are usually sent home within 24 hours after
birth. After that, there are some things that the mother should pay attention
to at home, in terms of herself and baby.
Normal
births:
- If episiotomy was performed during normal delivery, care
and cleanliness of the suture area should not be neglected. Those who give
birth without episiotomy do not apply any care or dressing to the vagina area.
- Give your baby only breast milk for the first 6 months.
Breastfeeding provides many benefits not only for the baby but also for the
mother.
- Those who give birth normally should definitely use the
prescribed drugs at home when leaving the hospital. These drugs should not be
thought to pass with milk and harm the baby.
- Whenever possible, time should be allocated to rest and
sleep.
- Those who give birth normally recover quickly after
returning to return to their normal lives. Therefore, they can start postpartum
exercise and sports early. This allows the mother to quickly regain her
pre-pregnancy form and weight.
- The bleeding, called leukemia, which begins after birth,
will continue to decrease for about a month. For this bleeding, only pads
should be used, not tampons.
- Normal birthers can start sexual intercourse one month
after the average birth. However, this period may vary depending on the
condition of the stitch area and the general condition of the mother, if any.
- The most beneficial movement to restore belly swelling in
normal births is to exercise and not to eat excessive and harmful foods. For
the improvement of the navel area, corset or cream, the drug is not
recommended, it is useless. As the mother continues regular nutrition and
exercise, the navel area will recover quickly.
- The baby's controls, assays and vaccines should be done
without delay.
- If you feel feelings of extreme unhappiness, pessimism, and
feeling worthless, you should contact your doctor immediately.
- After returning home, the obstetrician should definitely go
for a check-up on the date determined by the obstetrician. It usually happens
one week after birth. In the examination, if the episiotomy stitches have
healed, is there a problem with the uterus or bleeding, there is a problem with
the breasts and breastfeeding, it is checked.
- Sutures thrown for episiotomy performed in normal births
are usually thrown with self-melting and non-removable sewing materials. These
stitches are not removed and disappear by themselves. This is so unless your
doctor states otherwise.
- Apply the most suitable postpartum protection method in
consultation with your doctor. Do not think that breastfeeding prevents getting
pregnant.
- It may take up to 6 months (sometimes 1 year) if the mother
has breastfeeding very regularly in normal births. Mothers who do not
breastfeed very regularly usually start having menstruation 2-3 months after
birth.
- Normal births should never wash inside the vagina with
water or other substances for reasons such as bleeding or discharge. Bleeding
and discharge will decrease spontaneously within an average month.
