PUSHING METHODS FOR DELIVERY

Pushing is one of the important factors that will facilitate the birth of the mother in normal birth. For this reason, mothers should learn how they should behave during delivery in the delivery room, what to do, and the correct breathing and warm-up techniques. You can learn about them from various books, websites or pregnancy training courses during pregnancy.
Pushing is done only at the second stage of birth, not before. Birth consists of 3 stages. It is the period from the start of the first stage pains to the opening of the cervix about 9-10 cm. This phase is the longest phase, sometimes it can take several hours and sometimes long hours. In the first phase, you should breathe properly as the pain comes and wait for your cervix to open. At this stage, the pain may be spontaneous or artificial pain may be given. In both cases, pushing is not performed. The cervix gradually opens and when it reaches 9-10 centimeters full span, the second phase of birth has started. You cannot understand that this phase has begun, but your doctor will tell you. In the second phase, you will be asked to help the baby's birth by pushing. In the second phase, because the baby presses on the mother's rectum (the last part of the intestine), a feeling of pushing will start spontaneously in the mother. The strain technique in this phase is described in detail below. With the help of pushings and with the help of a doctor, the third and final stage of childbirth begins after the baby is born. At this stage, the placenta is expected to separate. Your doctor or midwife will wait by waiting for the placenta to leave. In the meantime, you do not feel pain or pain, pushing is not required. The expected period for the third stage of delivery, that is, the expected time to separate the placenta, takes about 5-10 minutes (maximum half an hour). Then, if any, your stitches will be thrown and removed from the birth table.
How should pushing be done at normal birth?
It is very important to support the expectant mother with pushing to give the baby down in the second stage of birth and to be born out of the birth canal. Proper pushing helps a lot of birth. Pushing is done when the pain comes, you need to rest without pushing during the interim periods. Pushing is required again for each pain. Usually the baby will be born after 2-3 pushing.
Pushing technique: When the pain comes, you should breathe through the nose and take a deep breath. Then, you should apply force to push the baby down, holding your breath in, and bringing your chin closer to your chest. This is like a person doing pushing when he has constipation. The important thing here is to give your strength downwards, not towards your neck. Pushing should be strong and long. During this pushing, instead of holding your breath, you can also push it out by exhaling slowly through your mouth. In the meantime, breathing should be very slow so that the strain is long. When you exhale completely, if the pushing is over and the pain has not passed, you need to breathe and push in the same way to inflate your nose again. When the pain passes, you need to rest with normal breathing, and when the pain comes back, you should get back in the same way. Pain comes with an average of 2-3 minutes apart. Meanwhile, if necessary, an episiotomy (incision) is performed, and after that one more pushing is usually sufficient for delivery. You will be asked to stop straining as soon as the baby is born. The important point here is to take your breath from the nose and the breathing in the abdomen in the pushing technique. This will both ease the birth and provide the baby with more oxygen. You should take care not to breathe chest.
Pushing can be done in a standing or crouching position, or on a bed, in a position that spreads over the back of the birth table. These positions are positions that make it easier for the baby to go down due to the effect of gravity.
