INDUCED LABOUR

Treatment with drugs given to initiate labor pains or increase spontaneous labor pains to a sufficient level is called labor induction. For this, the mother is given a drug called oxytocin in serum. Oxytocin is a hormone that is normally secreted from the area of the brain called the pituitary and provides uterine contractions. Oxytocin is also used to control postpartum hemorrhage.
For the progression of normal delivery, the cervix must gradually open (dilatation) and become thinner. This thinning event is called effacement. During effacement, the cervix softens and becomes thinner. Opening of the cervix is indicated in centimeters during normal birth examinations,
Ken efasman (thinning level) is specified as a percentage. When the cervix is opened 9-10 cm and the effacement approaches one hundred percent, it is about to give birth. Induced labourpain accelerates this opening and thinning process, and enables the baby to move downward from the birth canal faster.

Induction required:
- Preeclampsia / Eclampsia
- Chorioamnionitis (infection in the uterus)
- Abnormal detection in some tests of the fetus
- Intrauterine growth retardation
- Pregnancy in the sun (pregnancy past 41 or 42 weeks)
- Dead fetus
- Major congenital fetal anomaly
and in some other cases birth is required with induced labour initiation.
