Complaints like stiffness and contraction in the abdomen are
common in the last months of pregnancy. The expectant mother sometimes
expresses that her tummy has hardened "like stone", sometimes it may
be lighter. These may be accompanied by groin pain. Especially in the period
from the 6th month until the birth, the expectant mother may feel that her
stomach hardens from time to time, and when she handles, her stomach hardens
like a wood. It is not uncommon for this to happen rarely, but frequent
recurrence during the day may be a sign of preterm birth. Therefore, if there
is frequent erection in the abdomen during the day, it is absolutely necessary
to consult a doctor. Even if the contractions are rare, if there are complaints
such as spotting, bleeding, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, headache, darkening of
the eyes, diarrhea, burning while urinating, fever, it is absolutely necessary
to consult a doctor immediately.
In the doctor's examination, it is understood whether these
contractions are a true preterm labor contraction or false preterm labor during
the manual examination and, if necessary, the measurement of contraction with
NST device.
These are irregular contractions that can occur in the last
months of any pregnancy that is not objectionable. They do not require any
treatment. If the contractions are considered to be due to real contractions,
namely the threat of preterm labor, treatment can be given accordingly.
