3 MONTHS PREGNANCY

9 WEEK PREGNANCY
This week, the baby's body begins to take shape. The head of the baby is larger than the rest of the body on ultrasound; fingers and toes, nails; digestive system and internal genital organs begin to develop. External genital organs are not yet developed. Although the baby starts to do some small movements, the mother-to-be cannot feel them.
10 WEEK PREGNANCY
This week, the baby's vital organs develop. Finger separation and nail development continue. With the development of the skeleton, the teeth begin to develop. Eye pits are formed, but their eyes are still closed. Brain development continues rapidly. As of this week, the testicles start to produce testosterone, and this ensures the development of the external genital organs.
11 WEEK PREGNANCY
With the end of this week, the baby takes its final form. The growth of organ systems is very fast and reaches 3 times the size until the 20th week. Ears develop on both sides of the head and penis and clitoris differentiate in the external genital organs.
12 WEEK PREGNANCY
The baby's face changes due to chin and nose development. Development of the fingernails and toenails is completed and the 1st trimester (first 3 months) ends at the 12th weekend.
CHANGES ON THE MOTHER
The third month of pregnancy is the last month of the 1st trimester. Due to the increasing hormones (estrogen, progesterone) in the mother, there are differences such as nausea, vomiting, chest tightness, headache, fatigue, increased urination, insomnia and nightmares. Nausea and vomiting occur especially in the mornings, which usually pass at the end of the third month, but in rare cases, vascular access may be required with serum.

There may be dizziness, palpitations and headache due to increased blood production and pumping power of the mother. With increased blood volume, the cornea typically enlarges in the 10th week and continues until the 6th week after the baby's birth. Eye pressure decreases. Depending on all this, minor minor staining occurs in the eye. People who wear contact lenses may have trouble, even if they do not need to be replaced. It returns to normal after birth.
Due to the increase of estrogen and progesterone hormones in the mother, breast and milk glands grow and the nipple color darken. There may be tenderness or pain in the breasts. Nozzles feel heavier and fuller.
The uterus remains in the pelvic bone structure until the 12th week and puts pressure on the bladder due to the increase in size, causing frequent urination. At the end of the third month, as the uterus moves out of the pelvis, this pressure decreases and the urinary frequency returns to normal.
Cramps and twitches begin to feel in the lower abdomen. Due to the stretching of the ligaments of the uterus, there may be sharp pain, especially in sudden movements. These pains are bothersome but generally harmless.
Until the 12th week, the mother receives approximately 1 kg, depending on the baby's weight, placental tissue, amniotic fluid, increased blood volume of the mother, fluid accumulation in the body tissues, uterus and breast growth. The main weight gain happens in the 2nd half of pregnancy.
There are also mental changes that accompany the mother's physical change. There are emotions such as emotionalization, feeling lonely, feeling inadequate towards her partner. At this stage, his wife should support the mother. Although most mothers think that these feelings will be continuous, it decreases in a short time.
PREGNANCY TRACKING
2. prenatal follow-up is performed in the 3rd month. The patient's weight and blood pressure are measured. If not done in the first follow-up, pelvic examination is performed. If the patient is the first time to arrive, complete blood count, full urine test, blood group, hepatitis markers, TORCH markers, thyroid function tests, blood incompatibility IDC (indirect coombs), USG are requested.
SUGGESTIONS:
- If the mother has bleeding, dropping or pain, cramping, fever, excessive nausea, vomiting, spotting, she should consult a doctor immediately.
- Especially in severe and persistent headaches accompanied by dizziness, nausea and vomiting or blurred vision, severe groin pain, pain accompanied by fever, and moderate to severe headache that does not pass despite taking medication.
- Painful urination, inability to urinate, severe constipation, the mother should consult a doctor.
