KEGEL EXERCISES IN PREGNANCY

Kegel exercises, also called pelvic floor exercises, are the exercises aimed at strengthening the muscles that form the base of the pelvis (muscles that surround the uterus, vagina, bladder and rectum and support it in the form of a hammock from below). There are several benefits to doing these exercises during pregnancy and after delivery. Although several methods of doing Kegel exercises have been described, the aim is to contract and relax the muscles mentioned here for a certain period of time. The easiest is to lie on the ground and make the hip muscles by contracting Meanwhile, your body should not move, your waist should not be lifted, only your hip muscles should contract as if trying to hold your toilet. The muscles can contract here, like trying to hold the toilet when it comes. You can learn to feel these muscles while trying to cut in the middle while urinating or trying to squeeze the finger placed in the vagina. It can be done lying down, sitting, standing, anywhere, in any environment. It should be done 3 times in the morning, noon, and in the evening, and the muscles should be contracted and relaxed 10 times each time. The muscles should be held for about 10 seconds of contraction, and then they should be left loose for 10 seconds, thus repeating 10 times. You should not use abdominal and hip muscles while exercising and you should breathe normally.
Benefits should not be expected as soon as you start Kegel exercise, and the person who regularly exercises every day will generally benefit after 4-6 weeks. If Kegel exercise has been performed for 6 weeks but no benefit has been seen, the doctor should be consulted for other treatment methods.
