FETAL DISTRESS

It is a term that states that the fetus is under "stress" with its progress towards oxygen deficiency, acidosis, asphyxia. This can be understood by tests that evaluate the well-being, such as NST.
There can be several reasons:
- Developmental retardation in the fetus
- Incoming water, low water (oligohydramnios)
- The day has passed
- Anemia in the fetus
- Diseases such as preeclampsia and diabetes in the mother
- Umbilical cord around baby’s neck
- Any bleeding condition can lead to sudden fetal distress
The fetus with fetal distress is evaluated by NST, OCT, Doppler, Ultrasound etc. tests and it is decided to follow up or give birth according to the week of gestation. In case of fetal distress, if there is not enough time to wait for normal delivery, that is, if the condition is urgent, cesarean may be required to take the baby as soon as possible.
