The procedure of opening the water sac by the doctor in a
patient to give birth is called amniotomy. Thus, the amniotic fluid that the
baby swims during the pregnancy is discharged. During the examination, the
doctor opens the water pouch with a stick-shaped device and at this time, the
patient does not feel anything.
Amniotomy is done to accelerate the birth and learn the
nature of the amniotic fluid. Amniotic fluid is mostly clear, but it can be
monitored in yellow-brown color (meconium) when the baby extracts meconium.
