As the months of pregnancy progress, the uterus grows and the
pressure inside the abdomen increases. Accordingly, pain in the navel may occur
in some expectant mothers. In some, loss of belly button, flattening or even
outwardness may occur. These complaints resolve as the pressure in the abdomen
will decrease after birth. If your belly button has excessive swelling and
protrusion, this may be a herniated hernia, so you should see a general
surgeon.
Cracks and itching in the abdomen may also be accompanied by
itching and pain around the navel. Drinking plenty of fluids and using
moisturizing creams can be beneficial for pain.
