MOUTH DRYING IN PREGNANCY

Drying mouth and lips during pregnancy and feeling constant thirst is one of the common complaints. Although the reason is not clear, it may be a measure taken by the body to meet the increasing fluid need during pregnancy. Diabetes during pregnancy is one of the rare causes of dry mouth, blood sugar needs to be checked.

Alcohol and cigarette also have a dry mouth effect that should never be used during pregnancy, even if there is no such complaint. Excessive caffeine (coffee) consumption and sugary foods can increase dry mouth, should be consumed in small quantities. Chewing sugarless gum is beneficial to prevent dry mouth. Despite all these measures, if you have a dry mouth problem, there may be a disease related to dental and oral health, you should contact your doctor.
If there is a septum deviation or similar pathology that causes nasal congestion, it will cause dry mouth as it will cause constant breathing in the mouth, in this case, you should contact an otolaryngologist.
